Agricultural property

We provide services to cover the five key situations requiring legal assistance which are usually faced by those in the agricultural sector:

  1. Choosing or changing to an appropriate business structure

    • Advice on the appropriate business structure and structure formation.

  2. Buying and selling farm and agricultural land

    • Conveyancing

    • Land registration

  3. Leasing farm and agricultural land

    • Farm business tenancies

    • Agricultural holdings tenancies

    • Land registration

    • Grazing agreements

    • Common land/mountain grazing

  4. Resolving a dispute

    • Boundary disputes

    • Disputes over agricultural/holding tenancies

    • Disputes over land occupation

  5. Planning for the future

    • Succession planning

    • Wills

    • Lasting powers of attorney

We have the capability to draft plans for the transfer and registration of property and land which comply with HM Land Registry standards. It is relatively rare for a solicitor practice to have this capability. Many solicitors would rely on the services of third parties such as land agents to produce these plans. Comparatively, our fees are very reasonable which often saves our clients hundreds of pounds.

The circumstances of our agricultural clients tend to vary. Please call us and speak to one of the agricultural property team to find out how we can assist with your particular situation.

Carreg Law’s agricultural property team

Carreg Law’s agricultural property team comprises Edward, Carys and Freddie.

Edward is both a solicitor and a notary public. He has extensive experience of property and agricultural matters built up over 12 years. Edward’s training and experience as a notary has equipped him with an enhanced commercial awareness, which is vital for agricultural matters. He is open, transparent and approachable with clients. Edward has an efficient command of IT and is especially adept at using our mapping software.

Carys is a solicitor with a comprehensive knowledge of property and agriculture established over 13 years. Carys has first-hand experience of life in the agriculture in Wales: she grew up on a working farm near Llangadog, spending much of her childhood in the milking parlour or tending the sheep. In recent times, she has worked with her parents on the diversification of their farm business. Carys is highly organised, systematic and thorough. Carys is dedicated, hard working and has a strong sense of priority, which is certainly helpful when there’s a short deadline to work to.

Freddie has many years' legal experience ranging from a London law firm to running her own practice in Monmouth and, most recently, as Legal Director in the Wye Valley branch of a top 70 UK law firm. As part of the Carreg Law conveyancing team, Freddie continues with her friendly and efficient approach to working with clients. Her aim is to make the process of moving home as seamless as possible and to minimise the inevitable stress for clients.

Edward, Carys and Freddie work collaboratively and closely, so you can be assured that they will be in synergy with each other on your commercial matter. The advantage to you as a client is that you get the benefit of the combined experience of Edward, Carys and Freddie.

Edward, Carys and Freddie all speak Welsh, with Edward and Carys being fluent.
